Rachel Byrne
Rachel has trained in various types of Massage and Reflexology which include Holistic Massage, Sports & Remedial Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Advanced Techniques, Indian Head Massage, Integrated Myofascial Release, Reflexology and Maternity Reflexology.
Over many centuries and across many disciplines, touch has been seen to be a most effective form of healing. The energy that flows through the hands can refresh, regenerate and revitalise. It is for this reason that massage is so often found to bring about beneficial physical and psychological changes and restore balance to the body as a whole.
With this in mind, Rachel believes massage is essential for anyone who exercises, from leisurely walking to the most competitive sports. It can prevent and treat injuries, give the muscles flexibility, help transport essential nutrients to the working muscles and eliminate toxins in and around them. Mental or physical stress can tighten muscles, which, in turn, will increase symptoms. This may lead to restricted movement, constricted blood supply, nerves becoming pinched, headaches, backache and much more. Having a treatment on a regular basis can give one more energy and vitality. Treatments are tailored to individual needs and vary depending on symptoms/requirements. Using a combination of techniques can provide a very powerful & effective treatment.
Sports/Deep Tissue Massage is for promoting and keeping muscular and joint flexibility, increasing performance and reducing the risk of injury. One doesn’t have to participate in sports to benefit from deep tissue massage.
Remedial Massage is for muscular and joint problems, including back, neck and shoulder pain.
Holistic/Relaxing Massage releases toxins from the muscles to encourage wellbeing for mind and body.
Indian Head Massage is a seated massage that concentrates on shoulders, neck, scalp and face. This unique massage is excellent for stress, headaches, eye strain and insomnia.
Integrated Myofascial Release is a technique very different to muscle-focused massage that works instead on the fascial system in the body. The fascia is an integrated, totally connected, uninterrupted network of fibrous tissue that spreads through the body, holding together and supporting the body’s musculature. This is a gentle technique that can produce a very powerful release.
Reflexology is gentle stimulation of pressure points on the feet, enabling the body’s energy to flow freely in order to return to harmony physically, mentally and emotionally. Any imbalances or blockages in this energy may result in illness. The treatment improves circulation, stimulates the immune system and encourages the release and removal of toxins. Reflexology can benefit most people. It does not diagnose or claim to offer cures, but has been shown to be effective for pain, headaches/migraines, infertility, arthritis, sleep disorders, injuries, hormonal imbalances, digestive problems and stress-related conditions.
Maternity Reflexology is excellent to maintain a balance throughout the pregnancy, when major changes are happening within the body and mind. It can help with many minor ailments of pregnancy and encourages deep relaxation.
Sub-Fertile/Assisted Conception Reflexology has an excellent reputation in helping couples to conceive. It can help balance the mind, body and spirit to give the best environment for conception. Assisted Conception treatment can be supported by the balancing and calming qualities of reflexology which help enormously to complement medical procedures.
There are certain conditions which could make massage/reflexology unsuitable. These include any contagious or infectious diseases (including colds/flu), or if you have a fever. For some conditions, GP permission should be sought, e.g. any cardio-vascular problems, undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy or pregnancy. Please ask if in any doubt. For information and appointments, call Rachel on 07769 943971.
